What changed.
Every release.

Romotiq updates itself. This is what each release brought, in the words the update dialog uses.

1.19.11

New

  • Titles and brand cards. A reel can carry several overlays now, not one
  • Each overlay has its own place on the picture, its own on/off switch and

Improvements

  • Appearance folds away on the Finish step, like Titles & cards.
  • Every animated caption run now records how long the model took, so speed

1.19.10

Improvements

  • Finish takes the room it needs. The right-hand panel widens for this step,

1.19.9

New

  • A Finish step after Captions: the reel's border, colours and corners, your title or hook text, and your post, all in one place before export.
  • Your post writes itself from your words the first time you reach Finish. Edit it in place, or say what to change and have it revised.
  • A title or hook text: type it, choose small, medium or large and how long it shows, then drag it where you want on the video. Every export carries it.
  • Every caption version exports as its own reel, so trials can be posted side by side.
  • Export & share shows the post as it will look before any export: a cover frame you scrub to and save, with your caption under it. The cover lands beside the reel.

Improvements

  • Changing the border, corners or split height no longer asks you to recreate your captions.

1.19.8

Fixes

  • The reel version menu opens centred under its button.

1.19.7

Improvements

  • When several versions are made, each has its own live row: its model, what it is looking at or composing right now, and its own progress.

1.19.6

New

  • Versions lead the animated captions panel, one card each with its own model, look and layer. Choosing a version makes its layer the reel's.
  • Before a run, every chosen model is reached first. One that cannot be used stops the run by name in seconds, instead of failing after the analysis.
  • A version failing mid-run keeps the others and names the failure.
  • Rename a reel by clicking its name in the header.

Improvements

  • Changing the layer or how far behind no longer asks you to recreate.
  • The long hints under the looks and the layer tiles are gone; hover for the examples.

1.19.5

New

  • Choosing Behind you shows how far behind: just a touch, half hidden or mostly hidden. It applies at once to captions you already have.

1.19.4

Fixes

  • Behind you now works when you are large in the frame. A scene you asked to sit behind you may be covered up to sixty percent; words that would vanish still stay in front. Auto keeps the old guard.

1.19.3

New

  • Animated captions in versions. Choose 1, 2 or 3 before you create them; they are made at the same time, each with its own take (balanced, bolder, calmer) and, if you like, its own model, so you can compare Claude and Codex on the same reel. Pick the one you want; playback and export follow.

Fixes

  • Behind you now reaches the model: scenes are asked to sit behind you wherever the cut-out allows.

1.19.2

Improvements

  • Where the words sit is now two cards under the looks, In front of you and Behind you, each showing a figure and the word. Hover one for a moving example and a line on what it means.

1.19.1

New

  • Your words are checked with AI on their own the first time they land on the Captions page. You see the two steps as they happen: finding your words, then fixing with AI.
  • Hover a look on the Captions page for a moving example of it and a line on what it is for.
  • Merging your clips is shown as it happens: the button fills, each clip lights as it is converted, a scan line crosses the cut as it is joined.

Improvements

  • The Layer choice for animated captions sits with the look. The direction box and Add animations are set aside for this release.
  • Transitions opens with the layout card unfolded.
  • The framing check on Captions has a title and a plain explanation.
  • The header names the reel with its number underneath. Reels change from Home.
  • The blocked option when you set a reel is called Motion graphics, with no hover state.

Fixes

  • A new reel started from a captions reel no longer shows that reel's caption scenes under its timeline.

1.19.0

New

  • Captions reels have no Words step. The rail runs Add files, Trim & silences, Transitions, Captions, Export. The Captions stage holds the words beside the preview, the reel's own waveform and view switches under it, and the framing check.
  • The words read along with the recording, Loom-style. Words light up as the reel plays, hovering one marks it on the waveform, clicking one moves the playhead, and a double-click edits the paragraph in place. Edits save when you click away.
  • Animated captions build in the open. The frames the model looks at show as a filmstrip, a mark on the waveform follows where it is looking, each scene lands as a block on a caption track and plays in on the preview, and progress is measured by words placed.
  • The model double-checks the script. Misheard names and terms are corrected in context, shown with a green underline, and a Fix with AI button runs the same check on its own, for styled captions too.
  • Animated captions move by hand. Drag a caption on the preview to move it, double-click to hand it back to the model. The export follows.
  • Editing the words recreates animated captions on their own. An edit during a run stops that run and starts again with the new words.
  • Set & continue asks what to make. Captions is live; Captions + animations is marked coming soon.

Improvements

  • The new-reel draft keeps its tools on one row: cut or framing tools in the middle, Zoom and the green continue button on the right, all in sentence case.
  • The Captions settings column has one type scale, a segmented Styled / Animated toggle, and Adjust appearance open by default.
  • Opening Captions before the background words exist keeps asking until they arrive, and says so.
  • Reopening the take from the rail on a reel with captions asks for a second click first.

Fixes

  • iPhone HDR recordings no longer export washed out. Clips are converted with Apple's own tone map before the join, with FFmpeg's as the fallback.
  • Correcting a word no longer deletes the timed words on a captions reel; the timings follow the correction.

1.18.1

Fixes

  • Animation workers see where you stand again. A frame is taken at the middle of every beat when the beats are cut, and again before a build if any are missing, so graphics are laid in the clear space instead of over your face.
  • The briefs and prompts speak of the presenter, not of one person by name, so a tester's reel is written in their voice.
  • The component registry no longer points workers at a reference reel that is not in the app.

1.18.0

New

  • A dedicated animation workspace shows each scene's idea, creation progress and preview status. Unfinished ideas are clearly labelled as not generated.

Improvements

  • Beats and stories share one workflow step, keeping the path from words to animation easier to follow.
  • Animation workers receive a shorter, consistent build brief and a bounded inventory of local assets.

Fixes

  • Simultaneous animation workers publish complete snapshots without overwriting each other's temporary files. Interrupted publication can recover without taking ownership from a live worker.
  • Scene rebuilds report the matching durable trace and version, including builds that finish immediately.
  • Written animation, preview loading and export readiness are shown separately, so a loading or failed preview is not mistaken for a finished result.

1.17.1

New

  • Stories write themselves. Approving the words cuts the beats and then writes one idea per beat on your default model, on the same screen. Each story sits under its words on the right, and Generate animations runs from there. The Animation plan wizard and its model dialog are gone from the flow.
  • Switch view at the playhead: a button on the transitions bar, like Loom's Split at, adds a swap where the playhead is and opens straight to the choice of view.
  • Add files, Trim & silences and Transitions on a finished reel reopen its saved take as a new draft, with its current framing, background and view swaps; Set & continue makes a new reel and the original stays. Earlier cut history and generated scenes are not copied.

Improvements

  • The stage shows the take alone until the animations exist: no title, premise or captions ahead of their time.
  • The rail keeps only the stages on the words page; the beats are the paragraphs on the right.
  • The draft preview no longer draws animation-overlay or captions placeholders.
  • Reorganized the editor and publishing code to make maintenance and future fixes easier, while preserving the existing editing workflow.
  • Added checks that verify the files included in an app build and catch incomplete release inputs before packaging.

Fixes

  • Approving words now clearly says it also starts AI story writing on the default model, before you click.
  • Reopening a finished take restores its saved composition and corrected words. Continuing without timing changes reuses those words; new trims discard stale transcript timings before transcription. Saving the new draft leaves the original reel unchanged.
  • Before the words were approved, the words page borrowed the stage's placeholder beats, one per subtitle cue, so Beat 01 to 09 showed early and an edit refused with "no beat sheet yet".
  • Animation rendering and sound-effect mixing now use the same configured ffmpeg executable as the rest of the media pipeline.
  • Release checks now stop when the update feed or downloads are unavailable, rather than reporting a completed release.

1.17.0

New

  • Border colour sits in Appearance beside the border width, as a swatch and a hex field. It saves to the reel on change and previews live in a draft.
  • Split height: a slider in Appearance sets how much of the reel the camera card takes, from 25 to 60 %. The classic card is the default.
  • The presenter cut-out (you matted out of the take, rising over a blurred card) is now a choice under Reel layout & style → Advanced, off for every new reel. Split view is the plain recording in its card until you turn it on.
  • A seconds ruler over the waveform, a label every five seconds and a tick every second.

Improvements

  • The rail lists every step: Add files, Trim & silences, Transitions, Words, Beats, Stories, Animations, Export. Steps done in the cut read as done.
  • After the words are approved the paragraphs on the right are the beats; the rail keeps only the stages on that page.
  • Edit changes the words inside the paragraph itself, with Save correction and Cancel beneath. No second box.
  • The transcript arrives as one paragraph. The overlay after Set & continue says Transcribing.
  • The draft preview no longer shows animation-overlay or captions placeholders; those come after the words and the beats.
  • Crop, bands, reload and Re-cut fold under Advanced.

Fixes

  • The waveform drew at two thirds of its width before the beats existed, and again after they were cut: the runtime came from the stage's 27.9 s default and the wave was never redrawn. The take's own length is used and the wave redraws when the runtime changes.
  • Going back to Cut on a reopened saved cut and continuing no longer fails with "Merge the clips first".
  • The preview box follows the playhead again when the cut-out is off, so Full presenter shows at the start after cutting into beats.
  • The total time no longer reads 0.00 s after a draft closes.

1.16.0

New

  • New reel is the editor itself. Drop one clip or many onto the timeline, trim with snapping, split, reorder and remove pauses, then Merge & continue. The wizard is gone.
  • Merge & continue saves your cut as a reel straight away, with the joined take and your source clips in its folder. A saved cut shows on Home as CUT SAVED and reopens where you left it.
  • Your words arrive while you frame yourself. The transcript reads as paragraphs on the right; click one to play from there, Edit fixes the words and keeps the timings. Approving the words is what cuts the beats.
  • The spoken word lights up as the recording plays, and hovering a word marks its moment on the waveform.
  • Click the view row to switch views from that point or change a view; each choice is a menu, not a surprise split.
  • Your reels live in ~/Movies/Romotiq (Reels, Exports). An older Beat Workbench folder moves across on first launch, and reels parked in a backup folder come home. Show in Finder on Home and in each reel's menu.

Improvements

  • The stages sit in the left rail with a way back to your reels, the layout panel folds to its title until you need it, and the step history cards are gone.
  • Full presenter is the opening view for a new reel; the first swap goes to Split.
  • Set & continue sits on the timeline bar, the play row waits for the first clip, and Merge hides while a pause scan waits for Apply or Keep.
  • The detailed timeline's layers, view changes and play controls share one thin bar; crop, bands and reload live in Reel layout & style; timing and options open as a dialog.

Fixes

  • Finished comparison working copies no longer pile up beside your reels; they go to the Trash, and render caches for reels that no longer exist are cleared.
  • Removing a view swap with × works with a real click.
  • The layout could not be saved before beats existed; approving the words now cuts the beats first.

1.15.0

New

  • The reel assistant has a resizable side panel, persistent conversations, a visible provider and model picker, and an editable queue for follow-up messages. Hide it and return without stopping the work.
  • Ask only keeps questions read-only. Editing requests work on a separate copy, with a summary of applied changes and Undo that protects newer edits.
  • Auto shows each version's public agent updates, available provider summaries, tool activity and timings. Earlier activity stays available, and finished versions have their own preview buttons.
  • Rounded corners are now a slider, from square to fully rounded, with the same appearance in previews and exported videos.

Improvements

  • Ask the assistant to continue an unfinished animation or prepare a finished version for export. Completed work is checked and reused; publishing still requires your choice of accounts and confirmation.
  • Enter sends a message, Shift+Enter adds a line, and a writing preference supports multiline-first use. Provider sessions retain follow-up context.
  • Auto's Hide and Stop controls stay visible while reading activity, with clear requested-versus-reported model names.

Fixes

  • Finished chat-built animations move to Export instead of asking for another animation-plan review. A later validated repair clears an old Auto attention badge without rewriting the failed run's history.
  • Preview caches and chat activity no longer falsely count as changes to the recording or animation plan during Auto generation. Real edits still protect the current reel from stale results.
  • Blank animation backgrounds and caption-only scaffolds cannot be mistaken for completed animation output.

1.14.0

New

  • Usage at the top of Reels brings Claude and OpenAI account allowances together, with reset times and token totals. Claude readings appear when its CLI reports them; unavailable or expired readings are clearly labelled.

Improvements

  • Reels show tokens instead of dollar amounts. API-equivalent values remain available in Usage details as a reference, not a bill.
  • Ask AI names the provider and model above the conversation, distinguishing the selected model from the model actually answering.
  • Model menus separate Claude Code and OpenAI Codex, with updated names and a picker for each animation version. Custom model IDs remain available, and existing defaults are unchanged.

Fixes

  • Auto progress moves into the Ask AI header while chat is open, keeping the message box and Stop button clear on hover and click. Hiding progress does not cancel work.
  • Auto intake usage is attributed to the provider and model selected for that run.

1.13.0

New

  • Auto mode turns a video into editable animation versions in one run. Choose your models, number of versions and a visual style; Auto handles pauses, captions, stories, view switches and appearance without approval screens.
  • Animated progress shows your recording being prepared, stories taking shape and versions coming to life. Allow 10–15 minutes or longer, keep the app open, and hide or reopen progress whenever you like.
  • Full animation fills the reel with graphics and removes the presenter from view while keeping the voice.
  • Export & share brings version selection, video files and social destinations into one place. Each version can become a separate post; publishing still requires your confirmation.

Improvements

  • The workflow is now Intake, Beats, Animate, Export, without a mandatory review phase.
  • A staged animation wizard separates model choices, stories and layout. Simple mode writes and accepts stories, then generates your chosen versions automatically; Advanced mode keeps individual beat controls.
  • Reel layout, border and rounded-corner controls stay visible beside the preview.
  • New-reel creation has its own progress window, and a clearer transcript prompt helps you check the words after import.

Fixes

  • Pause detection starts at 0.3 seconds, and timeline dividers no longer show duplicate guide lines.
  • Auto keeps completed alternatives when another model fails and preserves your original recording and animation page.
  • Generated comparison versions can be exported using their own saved filenames.
  • Export and publishing keep the selected version consistent without changing the version you are editing.

1.12.1

Improvements

  • Export video is available as soon as your animations are built. Choose your output and export without extra review stages.
  • Review sheets and beat approvals are optional; automatic animation checks still run before export.

Fixes

  • The final workflow step opens Export directly, including when a review sheet is missing or out of date.
  • Unavailable export checks show a clear retry message instead of leaving the export dialog unresponsive.

1.12.0

New

  • Meet Romotiq in a six-screen getting-started guide, with Back, Skip, progress and shortcuts to styles, AI Models and Social Accounts. Reopen it from Home whenever you need it.
  • Save multiple named styles and choose a different look for each reel, during import or under Appearance → Reel style. Saving a style to your library leaves your reels unchanged.
  • Open Connections for AI and social accounts, with dedicated AI Models and Social Accounts entries on Home.

Improvements

  • A clearer header shows Home, the reel number and full title, and the current version. AI runs & versions lives in the AI panel; Send feedback sits above Workflow & build.
  • Select and drag view-switch dividers on the simple timeline, enter an exact time, or delete a switch. Undo restores the edit.
  • A Changes to save summary shows added, moved and removed view switches before you save.
  • Social publishing includes destination-specific setup for Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and LinkedIn where enabled. Publishing availability remains subject to account and server setup; exporting never posts automatically.

Fixes

  • Style templates no longer open as a blank gallery. Saved styles retain their colours, fonts and settings when applied to an individual reel.
  • Custom colour edits update the live style preview and are included when saving.
  • Deleting a view switch removes redundant return switches, avoiding stray transitions.
  • First-run privacy consent stays above onboarding, while activation and recording-tool checks remain in place.

1.11.0

New

  • Edit your caption transcript in sentence boxes grouped by beat, beside the video preview. Style and word-count controls stay visible.
  • Choose an animation model and open Versions directly from the animation plan. Your model choice carries into generation confirmation and matching version settings.
  • Zoom the detailed timeline with a slider, plus/minus buttons and Fit.

Improvements

  • Timeline zoom responds smoothly to mouse-wheel and trackpad movement, keeping the time under your cursor in place.
  • Pause and Remove controls stay visible in the sound chooser and music track. Removing music from a reel keeps a recoverable copy without touching library originals.

Fixes

  • Click the Split / Full row to switch layout exactly where you click, in both simple and detailed timelines. Playback and the playhead stay put.
  • Clicking a music or sound-effect preview again stops it. Switching previews stops the previous sound, and the sound chooser stays open.
  • Sentence corrections preserve unchanged word timings where possible, with failed saves keeping your edits available to retry.

1.10.0

New

  • Preview caption styles over your recording before applying them. Simple style choices sit below the video, with word edits and extra settings tucked under Adjust.
  • Choose rounded or square corners under Appearance, independently of border width. Your choice carries through Full presenter, Split view and exports.

Improvements

  • Ask AI opens in a compact floating-corner window, with reel context and extra actions available when needed.
  • Click the Split / Full strip to swap views at the playhead, without a separate swap-button row.
  • Timeline tracks use Routiq colour accents, with a clear amber playhead and mint music waveform.
  • Animation-plan cards keep the simple presenter choices without the advanced animation-content dropdown. Existing settings stay unchanged.

Fixes

  • Recording thumbnails keep their proportions in a filmstrip instead of enlarging a portrait to fill an entire beat.
  • Caption save failures keep corrections available to retry, and delayed caption responses cannot switch you away from another reel.

1.9.2

Improvements

  • Ask AI opens above the whole editor with a gentle pop-in animation and a dimmed backdrop, instead of squeezing into a side panel.
  • Whole-reel context is clearer. Closing chat preserves your draft and the editor underneath; keyboard navigation and reduced-motion preferences are supported.

1.9.1

Fixes

  • All four workflow steps now navigate to their available screens, including generation progress and review & export.
  • Revisit completed steps without restarting AI work, with the current step clearly highlighted and unsaved changes protected.

1.9.0

New

  • Compare animation versions made by Claude, Codex or Cursor, with a separate model choice for each. Two versions run at once; additional versions queue without replacing your original.
  • Open AI runs & versions to inspect saved prompts, reported model and token usage, tool activity and quality checks. Optional Langfuse export asks for consent before sending a trace.

Improvements

  • Animation-plan cards show Split and Full presenter choices, with a route back to editing swaps on the waveform.
  • Build progress has clearer colour accents and a visible return path after choosing Back to stage.

Fixes

  • Return to Check recording without restarting AI work or losing the saved animation plan.
  • Presenter-preview status fades in place instead of shifting the editor. Short desktop windows retain a usable recording preview.
  • Comparison versions with failed quality checks remain held for inspection rather than replacing a working animation.

1.8.6

Improvements

  • Review and edit your animation plan in a roomy overlay, with every beat’s visual idea and shot choice together before generating.
  • Each transcript beat has its own visible Edit button, with corrections made directly beside that beat.
  • The simplified waveform now has labelled beat sections that you can click to jump through the recording.

Fixes

  • Unsaved animation-plan changes stay protected when closing the overlay, and failed saves keep your draft available to retry.

1.8.5

Improvements

  • A simpler pause screen groups Remove, Keep and Preview together, with visible adjustment controls underneath.
  • Blue, green and amber accents return to the neutral editor, without changing your reel colours.

Fixes

  • Transparent preview layers no longer paint a white rectangle over the recording in the dark editor.
  • Pause detection starts automatically when entering the silence screen, and reuses completed results when returning from framing.

1.8.4

New

  • Review the full transcript beside your recording, jump to a paragraph, and save word corrections before planning.
  • Choose a model before drafting a plan or generating animations. See time ranges when enough matching runs have been recorded on this Mac.
  • Send feedback from the top bar. Record a short, silent app-window clip, preview it, and remove it before sending if needed.

Improvements

  • Neutral black and grey editor controls keep attention on your reel without changing its colours.
  • Confirm trim and Next have distinct fills, and reel creation shows an animated logo.
  • A prominent timeline switch replaces the whole simplified section when detailed editing is open.

1.8.3

Improvements

  • See plain-language build activity and timestamped updates without opening the technical log.
  • Track partial token usage when the provider reports it, followed by final totals. Missing usage is clearly labelled, and API-equivalent costs are not presented as subscription charges.
  • See elapsed time, active tools, observed tool durations and quiet gaps. Preview-ready and completion notices appear even when the activity panel is closed.

Fixes

  • Removed the fixed ten-minute first-preview promise. Quiet periods no longer imply a confirmed stall, and failed builds no longer show a successful full progress bar.

1.8.2

Improvements

  • The import title now names the current step and its number. Keep pauses sits beside Remove pauses, so both choices are easy to find.
  • Choose your starting view directly above the waveform: Full presenter or Split. Later view changes stay in place.
  • Opening the detailed timeline hides the simplified waveform. Switch back with the same toggle.

Fixes

  • Adjusting pause sensitivity or minimum duration no longer makes the page jump. Controls and previous highlights stay in place while the new results load.

1.8.1

Improvements

  • Smooth view changes. Full presenter and Split now ease between layouts over 0.6 seconds instead of snapping. Each change still starts at the exact waveform marker, keeps later returns in place and shortens safely when another marker is close.
  • Keep the picture moving while you edit. Change views during playback without a visual jump: the temporary audition starts from the picture on screen and follows the recording clock until it rejoins the saved edit. While paused, the same audition never starts, seeks or reloads the recording.

Fixes

  • A view change at the beginning of a recording now keeps a real transition from the first frame instead of replacing the starting layout with an instant change.

1.8.0

New

  • Switch views on the waveform. Choose a moment and use Swap to split or Swap to full beside the time marker. Labelled sections show where each view applies. Move later to swap back, or choose Undo swap without losing your place.
  • See the recording as you seek. A compact waveform beneath the preview shows the recording's own audio, with beat boundaries and the current time. It follows the same playback and edit as the detailed timeline.

Improvements

  • One clear next action after import. Check the recording, draft an animation plan, generate, then review and export. The next button explains what it does and whether it uses your connected AI account.
  • Review the edit before planning. Initial view swaps stay reversible until you continue. Confirming the edit saves your choices; animation planning and generation each need their own action.
  • Beats and the selected transcript stay easy to find. Detailed timing and appearance controls remain available without competing with the main next step.

Fixes

  • Full presenter no longer leaves the split view's opaque backing card over the recording. Intentional animation overlays remain visible.
  • A cutout from an older recording or edit no longer replaces the current presenter. While a matching cutout is unavailable, the preview keeps the source recording sharp and shows preparation status beside it.
  • Changing the view, crop or border now asks for a fresh review before export. Review images and playback use the same composed video, so you approve the layout you will actually export.

1.7.2

Improvements

  • One waveform through import. Keep the sound wave in view while trimming, removing silence and framing. Pause suggestions appear directly over the waveform and follow its zoom and your confirmed trim.
  • Fine-tune pauses without another click. Minimum pause and sensitivity stay visible. Adjust either control and the highlighted pauses update automatically when the analysis finishes. Nothing is removed until you choose Remove pauses.
  • Choose your starting view. Frame & layout clearly shows Split and Full presenter, with a live border-width slider. Both support animation overlays, and your choices are saved with the reel.
  • Reels, everywhere you work. New reel, Create reel, Reels and Reel chat replace episode wording. Existing recordings and saved work stay compatible.

Fixes

  • Older pause scans cannot replace newer settings or apply an outdated suggestion.
  • The waveform follows the retained recording after cuts, and stays available for mouse and keyboard seeking in every import step.
  • More compact framing controls keep the waveform visible above the desktop footer.

1.7.1

Improvements

  • A clear finish to trimming. Choose the part you want, then press Confirm trim. The screen confirms the kept duration before you move on to silence removal. Changing the trim asks you to confirm again; your original stays untouched.
  • One edit through both steps. Silence removal starts at the beginning of your confirmed trim. The preview, duration and pause markers all follow the part you kept, including cuts from the middle.
  • Simpler controls. Divide here adds a boundary without removing anything. Remove section, Preview without pauses and Remove pauses say exactly what they do.

Fixes

  • Waveform times stay sharp and correctly proportioned on Retina displays.
  • Portrait recordings have a properly sized preview, with consistent placement between trimming and silence removal. Controls remain reachable in short and narrow windows.
  • Seeking across a removed section lands on the next kept frame. Going back preserves your trim, and undo or redo keeps its confirmation accurate.

1.7.0

New

  • Import, trim, then frame. Import now has three focused steps: Import & trim, Remove silence, and Frame & layout. Each step keeps its next action in view.
  • A proper recording trimmer. See the waveform, drag the start and end, split at the playhead, or select a section to remove. Zoom in for precision and undo or redo cuts. Your original recording stays untouched.
  • Keyboard shortcuts you can find. Open the shortcut guide from the toolbar or with Command–/. Escape closes the top dialog and returns focus to where you were; Tab stays inside open dialogs.

Improvements

  • Silence removal has its own preview and confirmation step. Keep the pauses or remove them before framing; spoken filler words are not removed.
  • Go back through import without losing your trim decisions. Ordered clips keep their original source information, and silent video can be trimmed without an audio track.
  • Playback, beat navigation, layout switching, chat and settings have consistent shortcuts. Typing in a field no longer triggers editor commands. Command–Z and Shift–Command–Z undo and redo import cuts when you are not editing text.

Fixes

  • Crop dragging follows the visible recording correctly when the preview is letterboxed.
  • Import controls stay reachable in shorter windows, and old analysis results cannot replace a newer recording's draft.
  • Escape no longer rewinds playback, and ordinary Tab or Enter presses do not accidentally approve a story.

1.6.0

New

  • A workspace built around your beats. A readable beat list stays on the left, the video sits in the centre, and the selected beat's words and animation direction live on the right. Choose a beat with a click or the arrow keys; its time range stays visible.
  • Full presenter, split view, and back. Two visual buttons above the preview change the view at the playhead and save automatically. Move forward and choose the other view to return. The View track shows where each layout starts and ends.
  • Fine tune when you need it. Detailed audio tracks, layer controls and precise editing tools expand from one button. Border controls live under Appearance; captions and music are beside the beat inspector. The AI connection and episode chat stay in the top bar.

Improvements

  • More room for the preview, with compact controls in shorter windows and a scrolling layout in narrow windows.
  • Selecting a view section previews it without changing the edit. Select or drag a divider to adjust its timing, then Apply or Discard those detailed changes.
  • Keyboard-accessible beat navigation, tool buttons and option menus; clearer focus outlines and reduced-motion support in the editor.

Fixes

  • Changing the presenter view keeps the playhead where you put it instead of resetting to the selected beat's start.
  • Switching during an existing transition preserves the next return where it still applies. Failed saves keep the draft recoverable.
  • Long beat lists keep the selected beat in view, and the AI chat's Send button stays reachable in smaller windows.
  • Feedback closes the options menu before taking its screenshot and returns keyboard focus to the control you opened it from.

1.5.0

New

  • One format, and a border. Every episode is presenter + animation: the animation up top, you in a camera card below, SPLIT or FULL per beat. The three format tabs are gone. Above the video there is one slider, BORDER: the frame of background colour around the reel. Drag it and the preview follows; let go and it is saved for the whole episode. At 48 px it is the look you had, with a dark card behind the animation; at 0 the reel runs edge to edge. An episode made as a split card opens as this with the 48 px border. Older overlay episodes still open and say so, with one button to make them presenter + animation.
  • Click a layout marker to swap it. On the LAYOUT track, pressing → FULL makes it SPLIT from there on, and back, saved in the same click. Dragging still moves it.

Improvements

  • Changing the format no longer refuses while a layout edit is unsaved. It saves the edit first, in the same click, and only refuses if that save fails.
  • Intake no longer asks for a format. Every new episode is presenter + animation; the border is set above the video afterwards.

1.4.0

New

  • One next step, always in view. A card at the top of the right-hand panel says where the episode is and what to do next, with one button: write the stories, build the animations, review, export. An episode opens on it; the chat is a click away as before.
  • Pause removal finds the pauses itself. No disclosure, no numbers. When your recording loads it says how many pauses there are and how much dead air, with REMOVE THEM and HEAR IT FIRST. "fewer" and "more" nudge it; the fine controls are one small link away.
  • Every beat is animated. Unless you set a beat to ON CAMERA, it gets an animation. Per beat you choose SPLIT (you up top, the animation below) or FULL, from this beat on, in every format; the timeline marks where the frame changes. New episodes are reel-ready by default, chosen from three format cards at intake, and the format is a toggle above the video.

Improvements

  • Edited beats say the stories are stale. Cut, join, reword, retime or change the shot of a beat after the stories were written and every story button reads REDO THE STORIES until you do. A build waits for fresh stories.
  • The beat inspector reads in three groups. What it says, what's on screen, when — each editable in place, with one SPLIT and one MERGE.
  • Settings say which model to use. The models section sits under the connection card, each stage says what it does and which model suits it, and one button sets the recommended set.

Fixes

  • An on-camera beat is no longer asked to build an animation. The inspector read the shot from the notes and defaulted to animated; it now reads the beat sheet. The build button was also never hidden on any beat.
  • Your ON CAMERA choice survives the story stage. On a fresh sheet the model's answer used to overwrite it.

1.3.0

New

  • A FEEDBACK button. Press it and tell Daniel what broke. It sends your note, a picture of the window as it was, your app version and the app's diagnostics — never a recording or a transcript — and Daniel can reply straight to you. If it can't send, the same files land on your Desktop as a zip.

Improvements

  • The whole version card opens the changelog. Click anywhere on it at the foot of the rail, not just the number.

1.2.0

New

  • Clips in the order you drop them. The new-episode screen takes any number of clips as one numbered list. Move them with the arrows or by dragging; the reel plays them in that order with straight cuts. The hook and main labels are gone.

Improvements

  • A first-run screen with one button. One sentence says whether you can start. Below it, only what still needs you, each with its button on the row: the speech model, the export tools, your invite code, your AI connection. The cards and the second summary are gone; the full inventory is one click away under "What's on this Mac".
  • The version opens the changelog. Click the version at the foot of the rail to read what changed in every build, newest first, with your build marked.

1.1.2

Improvements

  • Settings names the model that will run. A blank model field used to say "CLI default", which named nothing. The connection card now shows the default your CLI is set to — read from its own config, for example fable 5.1 from ~/.claude/settings.json — and each blank stage says the same, plus what that stage actually ran last.
  • Pick models from a list. Each stage has a picker: the CLI default, then the provider's own choices (for Claude Code the aliases fable, opus, sonnet and haiku, which always mean the latest of that family), then "type a model ID…" for anything else. An All stages picker sets every stage in one go.

1.1.1

Improvements

  • A new build announces itself. A banner across the top of the window says a build is on its way, then that it is downloaded, with one button: relaunch now. The Dock icon is badged so it reaches you from another app. The app now checks every 15 minutes instead of every hour.

Fixes

  • Transcription works on a Mac without Homebrew. The bundled whisper looked for its compute backends in Homebrew's folder, which a fresh Mac does not have, and stopped on the first take. The backends now ship inside the app, and every build proves it by running whisper with Homebrew hidden.
  • A failed transcription says why. The app said "whisper failed" and threw away the line that named the cause. It now shows that line, and the failure reaches the error log.

1.1.0

New

  • Export every reel version at once. When an episode has more than one version, the preflight asks which reels to make: the one on stage, or all of them — A, then B, then C — each through the same gates, landing as reel.mp4, reel-b.mp4, … so the trials can be posted side by side. The run names every file by its letter, and says which reel it is on.

Improvements

  • One REEL VERSION control in the bar. The row of version pills is gone; the bar shows the version on stage — A, B, C — and a menu lists them all, with the captions page and "clone this version" underneath. What is on stage is what exports.
  • Release notes you can read in dark mode. The update dialog's notes follow the Mac's appearance instead of painting near-black text on a dark ground.

Fixes

  • The gates judge the version being exported. The review-sheet and grade gates looked at the original page even with a trial on stage; they now check the page that is about to export, and a trial's files are the ones swept up if a run is stopped.

1.0.5

Fixes

  • Export follows the version on stage. With animation-b.html on stage, FINAL (HQ) exported A. Now the preflight, the render and the reel are the version you are looking at — a trial lands as reel-b.mp4 beside reel.mp4, and the button says which (One complete reel · B).

1.0.4

New

  • A style per video. STYLE in the rail: give one reel its own look — a different field, different cards — and adjust its six colours, without touching the show's style guide. The reel changes the moment you save; the built animation keeps its choreography. One click follows the show again, or makes the video's look the show's.
  • A line to Daniel when someone activates, buys or tops up; the desk counts who is activated, seen today and on which build.

Improvements

  • The changelog page and the update dialog show the version alone.

1.0.3

Improvements

  • The style guide is one choice. Upload your style guide — a PDF, your website, or a few lines — and the agent drafts the kit and names the closest look; or start from a template, the kit's own or eleven from the board. How things move, how fast, how loud is the agents' call per reel, from your script and the story research, inside the look. The eight picks are gone.
  • The version alone, everywhere people read it; the build number lives in the rail's tooltip and the feed.

1.0.2

Improvements

  • The style guide's door is two roads, each the size of a pick: take the eight picks, with the same beat snapping and drifting side by side, or start from a look, with five of the twelve fanned out. The tile is the button.

1.0.1

New

  • The style guide. The Brand Kit is now a wizard: twelve looks — the kit's own first, then eleven aesthetics from the board — and eight picks, each shown as the same beat two ways. Every save is a version; Revert lists them, and the kit's own look is always one click away. Templates keep a look, its picks and your colours under a name.
  • The fifty sound effects, three takes each, ship in the app. The Sound Library lists them by register with when to use each; a letter picks the take the lane uses; ✦ SUGGEST SFX places them on the cuts, one per beat, one meme per reel.
  • Music from a link. Paste a YouTube or Spotify link as the base for a track; forty seconds of it steers the sound.
  • Brand kit import. A PDF, your site, or a few lines; the fonts are checked against this Mac.
  • Generation through your licence. Music and sound effects are made with credits — no fal key needed. The account panel shows the balance and the month's allowance, with a top-up.
  • Beta testers get the Founders licence for $0 with the code in the invitation; checkout opens with it filled in and the copy upgrades itself once payment clears.

Improvements

  • The rail's licence chip follows the account, and the licence screen speaks to a beta.
  • The lane decodes its sounds ahead of time and never plays one late.
  • The version and update state sit bottom-left, with check now.
  • A referral link in the account panel: a free month for every person who activates through it.

Fixes

  • The export mix reads your own library folder as well as the pack.
  • Choosing a take in the library plays it.
